Anthony Shawn Green (Shawn, Bundy) was born March 15, 1969 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to the late Evelyn Green and Douglas Smith.
Shawn was educated in the Christian County school system where his love of sports began. Affectionately known as Coach Green, Shawn spent most of his life coaching. The title Coach was not a persona for Shawn. He embodied the meaning of teaching and training on and off the field. He served not only as coach, but also as umpire, scorekeeper, grounds keeper and board member. Where ever there was a need you would likely find him standing in the gap. Shawn raised funds for many sports leagues and led toy drives for children in need. He had a larger than life personality touching lives wherever he went. He believed in giving flowers to the living and did not hesitate to speak at a funeral paying homage to those he loved and respected. His escape was golf. His love for his family unmatched. He often coached his family to seize the moment because you never knew if it would be your last. Shawn strived to influence, encourage, and uplift all he encountered especially the youth. He was the picture of a good and faithful servant.
Shawn is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Richard and Minnie Green, Walton and Christine Smith, sister Sonja Nance Tanner, and Uncle S. Walt Smith.
Shawn leaves to cherish his memory sons Keshawn and Kendall Green (Illinois), sisters Omeka Warfield Fuller (Tennessee), Elena Lander Lewis (Keith), Anishea Lander, Tiffany Morris (Kentucky) and brother Derek Smith (Kentucky), five grandchildren (oldest and beloved Jaleeh Green), a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and several devoted cousins. Devoted friends and “Golfing Bros.” John Towns, John Cooper, Frank Archey, Robert Stovall and Joe Stovall.
