Angela Michele Smith was born January 12th, 1967 in Champaign, IL to Neder Bell Smith and James "Buck" Harvey. The 2nd youngest of 10 siblings, Angie was a sweet, fun loving child who loved to laugh, play and spend time with her sisters.
Angie attended Carrie Busey Elementary, Edison Middle School and graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1985. Angie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and attended St. Luke CME as a child.
After high school, Angie worked as a waitress at Steak and Shake in Urbana for many years. While working there Angie befriended people from all walks of life. Angie was an avid reader and loved watching the news. She stayed informed of current events and used her knowledge to engage her customers. If you ever wanted to know what was going on in the world, "just ask Angie". She was a woman of profound intellect and Biblical knowledge.
Later in Life Angie met and married Duane Wilkins. From that union came her only child, Samuel James Wilkins. Angie loved being a mom and loved Samuel dearly. As a stay at home mom, Angie developed a love for gardening and decorating and spent her later years doing both.
On Tuesday March 29th, 2022, Angie was welcomed into the bosom of God by her husband Duane Wilkins, her mother Neder Bell and her father James, also rejoicing with her, her brother James, her sister Janet and all her grandparents.
Angie leaves to celebrate her life and legacy her beloved son Samuel, 2 brothers R.L. Smith (Debbie) and C.W. (Jo) Smith both of Champaign-Urbana. Her sisters, Sherron Stanonik of Houston, Texas, Dianne, Cynthia, Jacqueline and Crystal Smith all of Champaign-Urbana, along with a host of relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be at noon Friday at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave., Urbana, with Elderess Cynthia Smith as eulogist.
