On January 2, 1939, Alven Earl Allison was born in Little Rock, Ark., to James and Annie Mae Allison (Mason), the oldest of a large family. He was called home to rest on November 9, 2023.
Alven was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, and uncle. He loved playing his harmonica, cooking, and was happiest when he spent time with his family. He had what everyone knew as his million-dollar smile with those baby blues eyes, and his laugh was infectious. Alven touched the hearts of many with his charm and charisma. He loved the Lord and would preach the love of God to anyone who’d listen. Dad had his famous saying to all those who knew him. When you parted ways, he’d always say “Love, Peace and Happiness.” Later.
Alven was preceded in death by his parents James and Annie Mae Allison (Mason), his sisters: Alice Washington, Ruthie Duncan, Annie Mae Allison, Elizabeth Lusk, Maxcine Parr, and Rosie Ware; andbrothers; Albert Grant Allison, Shaheid Shabazz (AKA James Allison, Lacy Allison.
He is survived by his sister Mary (Ronnie) Knox (Muskegon, MI), brother; Evans (Pamela) Allison of (California) daughter, Annetta (Walter) Allison(Champaign, IL); two sons Alven (Ajza) Allison(Champaign, IL), Arnold Allison (Georgia); and three grandchildren, Samantha Stegall (Chiang Mai, Thailand), Brigette Wiksten (Boston, MA.) DontielAllison (Champaign, IL.), and six great grandchildren, Amara, Terra, Nohra, Layla, Braden, and Avery, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana, IL, 61801. Condolences and donations can be offered at Leeks & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 West Bradley Avenue, Urbana, IL 61801.
