Ahnariah Reed gained her angel wings on January 19th, 2025, at 14 months old, peacefully with her mother right by her side, loving on her, after an unexpected and emotional incident.
Ahnariah made her arrival into the world ever so gracefully on November 13th, 2023, to her loving parents Teriana Reed and Ronald Poke in Chicago, IL.
Ahnariah was born with a complex heart, but just by looking at her, you would have never known ! She was always the most happy, loving, playful, outgoing, talkative, and most chunky baby you’d ever lay eyes on, and also of course, the most stylish ! Everyone who knew Nari completely adored her and loved seeing her on her everyday walks around the unit, as well as seeing her outfit of the day. Ahnariah was loved by so many, and if I had to guess, I’d say she knew nothing but HAPPINESS and LOVE her entire life on Earth side.
Ahnariah’s Strength and resilience kept all the doctors and nurses around her watching in amazement as she always overcame every obstacle thrown her way one miracle at a time ! She always made sure to keep everyone on their toes and keep them guessing ! I know she’s left an everlasting memory on all that took care of her, as she was a crazy complicated baby, but honestly, her overall perfectness made up for it !
Ahnariah, also known as Nari , Nar Nar, Mommy’s baby, stinka butt, and Sugar Bubble, loved so many things, but I’d have to say watching tv (Bluey in particular, and the dancing fruits ) , shaking her rattles, and watching everyone sing, dance, and shake all around had to be her favorites! Oh, and her little wormies, she looooved her stretchy wormies ! She loved being read to and also loved cuddles before bed. She liked hair wash day off and on, but she did love her mommy’s Moroccan oil hair massages ! (Anything to see her comfy ! )
We all take great happiness and appreciation to everyone and all the hospital staff for making sure our Nari girl spent her entire life surrounded by love and happiness from all who entered her room, as well as all the support everyone has given to both parents, and a special thanks to Nari’s TT Rae who always showed up and showed out for my nari girl no matter the circumstances ! We appreciate you ALWAYS being there !
It’s also with great gratitude we thank the hospital that helped provide us with these beautiful 14 months we got with Ahnariah; they saved her many times, and never gave up on my girl, ever. Thank you Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital for everything you did for Ahnariah ! And the biggest shout out to her favorite nurses Kyndra M., Mason D., Ian D., Ann M., Bella D., and Sal; thank you all for loving Nari like your own ! And of course her amazing doctors Rohit L., Mary M., Carl M., and many more for always treating Nari the best and laughing at our dad jokes on late night rounds ! We couldn’t thank you all enough, and hope you all find peace in knowing the impact you made on Nari and our entire family !
Ahnariah left to cherish her beautiful memories to loving parents Teriana Reed and Ronald Poke lll, Grandparents Terian and Ashley Reed , Sherika Watson, Ronald Poke jr, Molly Lamb, Great grandparents Jerry (Jeanette) Reed Sr, Debra Tevebaugh, Gayle Watson, George Watson, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins who loved her dearly.
Ahanariah was preceded in gaining her angel wings by Cassandra Reed , Wanda Lamb, Donna Peppers, Judy Foley, Paul Tevebaugh, Angela Colman, and William Wynn.
To say we were proud of Ahnariah and everything she accomplished would be such a big understatement. She was the strongest baby and put up such a fight. She was the brightest light, and I’m so grateful we got to love her, even though it was cut far too short. She taught everyone what real strength and resilience look like. Now Ahnariah has won her battle and she’s completely healed, and she will forever live on in our hearts !
A service for Ahnariah will be held at Leek and Sons Funeral Home ,304 East Williams St, Danville, IL, on Thursday, January 30th, at 2 p.m., and will be proceeded with a repass at 409 East Main St, Danville, IL, shortly after the service comes to a close.
Ahnariah, my sunshine girl, I love you more than the sun, the moon, and all the stars in the sky, and will love you for all my life <3 - love, Mommy.
