Nathan Smalls Obituary

Nathan “BoBO” Smalls Jr. 72, of Danville passed this life Tuesday, June 9, 2019 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Nate was born in Savannah, Georgia, Chatham County to the union of Nathan and Loretta Smalls. “BoBo” was a sportsman straight to his heart! Not only did he love to watch sports, he was a player of the game also. His biography can be found in the book called “Only The Ball Was White” and “Some Are Called Clown.” He also was a lover of children. The love for his family was never ending. He was a son, husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend which any family would love to have.

“BoBo” leaves to cherish his memories, loving wife Anita, three daughters, Dana Williams of Indianapolis, IN. Leslie (Tyrone) Dunbar of Savannah GA. and Breya McGrown of Danville, one son, Darwin Baxter of Danville, special sister-in-law’s Bea Brown, Ellen Brooks, Bertha Brandon and Alice (Lee) Shields of Memphis, TN, Favorite Aunt, Angie Rhoe & Uncle Johnny (Juanita) Brown of Savannah, GA., Aunts Patricia Ann Rutledge of Savannah, GA. and Roslyn Rhoe of New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a city of friends and loved ones.

“BoBo” was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Lukresia, grandson Nathan, great-granddaughter Na’ryah, brother James Rhoe and Sister Hattie Mae Thomas.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 10:00 a.m. Monday July 15, 2019 at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Danville. Officiating: Pastor Lucious Barber. Internment: Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday July 14, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 311 N. Collett St. Danville. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. in charge of arrangements.
