Elma Cox Obituary

Elma D. Cox, 76 of Danville, passed this life at 3:59pm Friday December 17, 2010 at Provena USMC. Elma was born November 13, 1934 in Longview, Texas, the daughter of Lewis and Elnora Boyd Gentry. Elma was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life for 54 years, John Cox, he survives. Elma was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board and song with the Spiritual Harmonettes. Elma loved to sing, work in the church and take care of her family. Elma served the Lord with an admirable dedication.
Elma leaves to cherish her loveable memory, her husband John Cox, 3 sons: Nathaniel (Joyce) Gentry, Charles Cox and Robert (Mary Ann) Cox all of Danville, 4 daughters: Gloria Cox of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Lori Ann Cox, Debra Cox and Delores Cox all of Danville. Elma also leaves four sisters: Iola Williams, Ella (Albert) Taylor and Ether Lewis Gentry all of Kansas City, Missouri, Gloria Hunt of Pontiac, Michigan and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and two special friends: Nawassa Andings and Melissa Curtis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
A Home Going Celebration will commence at 12'noon Wednesday December 22, 2010 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 311 North Collett Street Danville, IL. Visitation will begin at 11am until the time of the service. Viewing will commence from 1-5pm Tuesday December 21, 2010 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 East Williams Street, Danville. Officiating: Pastor Lucius Barber. Internment: Danville National Cemetery.
