Darwin Deshun Cross 50, of Urbana, IL (formerly of Danville, IL and Atlanta, GA)
transitioned from this life at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Carle Hospital. He was born September 8, 1969 in Danville, the son of Linda Cross and Earnest Wright.
Darwin attended elementary thru high school in Danville. He also attended Parkland College in Champaign, IL and Culinary Arts School in Atlanta, GA. His hobbies included studying the bible, making music, going to the gym, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Darwin was a Culinary Chef. While in Urbana, Darwin worked for OSF as the head Chef. Darwin was a member of The Church of the Living God. His faith remained steadfast and strong until he was called home.
Darwin is survived by his wife, Latasha Williams-Cross, son Darrion Oliver, two daughters, Kyesha Shaw and Taresha Cobb, grandmother, Ola Mae Jones, five sisters, Dawyan Poke, Deyonna Poke-Wiiliams (Reginald), Demeka Poke, Denesha Cross, Lakesha Cross and Eureka Whetstone (John), one brother DeMarko Wright (Shanay), two grandsons, Cerron and Jaylen Crenshaw, aunts, uncle and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Linda Cross, maternal grandparents, Inell and Willie Cross and paternal grandfather, Earnest Wright, Sr.
A Celebration of Life will commence Friday December 20, 2019 at New Life Church Of Faith, 1419 N Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Officiating: Pastor Thomas Miller. Internment will be at Springhill Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. is in charge of arrangement.
