Candance LaShay Tuell

On October 6, 2019, Candance LaShay Tuell passed away peacefully at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Candance had battled ovarian cancer for seven years. Now, the Good Lord Jesus broke the shackles that were holding her down and sat her free to fly free like the butterflies that she loved so much.

Candance was a loving and devoted mother to her son Javontae Thatch. She took exceptional care of him. She was deeply involved in supporting Javontae in school and community activities. She raised him to be the wonderful and independent young man that he is today.

Candance enjoyed being around family and friends. She absolutely loved grilling, cooking and playing bingo. Candance’s favorite music was gospel, especially, Shackles by Mary-Mary and songs by Shirley Caesar.

Candance earned her GED from Champaign Unit 4 School District. Then she worked primarily in Food and Home Services.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Javontae Thatch, (Champaign, IL); her mother, Mary Moore, (Urbana, IL); father, Robert Tuell, (Champaign, IL); sisters, April Brasher, Jeranikia Tuell, Chatonia Williams (Asia), (Champaign,IL); Deandra Li Tuell, Coushatte, LA); brothers, Johnathan Williams II, Kwan Moore, Jamell Williams, (Champaign, IL).

Candance was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Willie Moore, Sr. and Addie Moore; paternal grandmother, Louise Tuell, and aunt, Angela Moore. She also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, as well as other family and friends.

A Memorial service will commence at 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 19. 2019 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Urbana.
