Barbara Jean “BOB” Pittman, 61, passed this life on September 20, 2019 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center. She was born June 25, 1958 in Turrell, Arkansas to the union of Nathaniel and Ollie January Pittman.
Barbara attended and graduated from Danville High School. She was a member of New Jerusalem Church. Her hobbies included listening and singing to gospel and blues music. She was excellent at homemaking and had a knack for interior design. Bob was a cosmetic enthusiast and took time and pride of her overall appearance especially her crown of glory. She loved watching soap operas and always had to have her Pepsi. But most of all Bob enjoyed spending time, laughing, and joking with her family and friends.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Brindisi Strong of Danville. Three granddaughters Char’Maya Nash, Char’Niyia Nash, and D’Aishia Webb, one grandson Martez Coley Jr. all of Danville. Her niece/daughter Shanita Pittman and nephews Sheldon Pittman and Alfonzo Pittman all whom she helped raise. A great niece whom she babysat Ta’Laysia Liggins. Two brothers Nathaniel Pittman and James Pittman both of Danville, two sisters Sandra Pittman of Danville and Barbara Hopkins of Arkansas, three Bonus Brothers Vincent Beard, Andy Brown, and Richard March. Two Bonus Sons Martez Coley and Willie Owten Jr. and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Andrew Pittman, Izell Pittman and Darren Pittman, two sisters Betty Jean Pittman and Ruthie Mae Jackson and also her long time companion of 25 years Willie Owten.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Friday September 27, 2019, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until the time of the service. Officiating: Pastor Bobby R. Keys Sr. A public viewing will be from 1 to 5 P.M. Thursday September 26, 2019 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. Danville. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.
