Gertrude C. Sims

Gertrude C. Sims, was born in Cave City, Kentucky on January 19, 1929. She was the daughter of William and Willia Cosby Datson. Gertrude made her transition on March 16, 2018 at the age of 89 at sunrise.

Gertrude was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles W. Sims Sr. on December 10, 1989, Danville, Illinois. She worked Domestic for many years for many people in the Danville area. Gertrude was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church. She belonged to the Missionary Society, Senior Women Auxiliary of Laura Lee Fellowship House and the Wood River Missionary Society.

Gertrude leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, a cousin, Mary Cromwell and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also cherished a special grandson, Todd Sims Sr. and granddaughter, Mary Sims and grandchildren Brianna and Todd Sims Jr.

Gertrude preceded in death by her parents.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 noon Tuesday March 20, 2018 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 423 N. Washington Ave. Danville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating: Pastor Courtney Watson. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. in charge of arrangements.
