Katherine Bryant Burnette

Sister Katherine Burnette was born July 19, 1936 to the union of the late Samuel Bryant and Marie Pearson-Bryant in Earl, Arkansas. In 1949 she moved to Crawfordsville, Arkansas then in 1957 she moved to Chicago, Illinois.

Sister Katherine turned her life over to Christ at an early age at Macedonia M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Grady Watkins in Chicago, Illinois.

She later joined with Christian Valley MB Church in Ford Heights, Illinois under the leadership of Reverend Odether Bady, Sr. Sister Katherine moved to Champaign, Illinois where she served at Jericho MB Church under the leadership of Pastor Lekevie C. Johnson, Sr. until her health prevented her from attending.

She was first united in marriage to Roy B. Alexander.

Sister Katherine was later united in Holy Matrimony to James Burnette. Katherine and James were together until his death in May 1986.

Sister Katherine Burnette went home on Thursday, May 16, 2013.

She leaves to cherish her memories: seven daughters: Mrs. Ruby Ann (Joseph) McVay, Linda Joyce Burnette, Jacqueline Burnette, Kathy Marie Burnette, Victoria Burnette, Nicole Michelle Burnette, and Tanya Barbara Burnette; eight sons: Roy B. Alexander, Jimmie Burnette, Gary Burnette, David Burnette, Joseph Burnette, Samuel Lee Burnette, Timothy James (Mae) Burnette, and Clifford Eugene Burnette. And one brother: Joseph Goodman. Katherine also left behind 32 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of honorary family members and friends.
