Hurley T. Dix Jr.

Hurley T. Dix Jr., 83, of Danville, transitioned from life into eternity at 10:24am Wednesday November 7, 2012 at Presence USMC. Hurley was born February 20, 1929 in Danville to Hurley Sr. & Corrine Polk Dix. He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life Clyola Pope on September 4, 1987 in Kankakee, IL. She survives. Hurley graduated from Danville High School. He retired from the Department of Veteran Affairs Hospital after 42 years of service as a food service supervisor. His hobbies included fishing, cars, music, and shopping for clothes. Hurley was a member of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church. Hurley leaves to cherish his loving memory, a daughter: Claranetta Dickerson of Indianapolis, stepdaughters: Michelle (Lawrence) Hall of West Chester, Ohio, Viola (Steve) Beech of Indianapolis, IN, Linette Holman of Champaign, IL, and Malissie Holman of Acuworth, GA; grandchildren: Annice Thomas, Terrance Dickerson, Latammion Dix and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Hurley had 2 special friends: Kermit Paron Bill Grundy. Hurley was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a daughter. A celebration of life will commence at 12’noon Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church 609 North Bowman Ave., Danville. Visitation will begin at 11am until the time of the service. A public viewing will commence from 1-5pm Tuesday November 13, 2012 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 East Williams Street, Danville.
